The Ricky Palermo Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to raising money and awareness for The Miami Project. Ricky Palermo was paralyzed in an automobile accident in 1981. He dislocated C5/6 level on his spine. In 1985 the Miami project was started after collage football star Marc Buoniconti received a spinal chord injury. Ricky has been with the program since its inception. Today at the Lois Pope Center the Miami Project continues to research a cure.
The Foundation started in 1997 with a golf tournament. Fifteen years and $710,000 later it has become so much more. Activities that Ricky Palermo Foundation sponsors are an annual golf tournament, a dinner/auction, a basketball and soccer clinic. The local Girl Scout troop has donated money, as well as people who have passed away. We'd also like to thank the people of Batavia and Western New York who support the organization, because without you, we wouldn't be able to do this.
